When she wasn’t looking, I dropped a message in a bottle with the proposal note into the water. I tell a story (lie) at the beginning of the cruise about a recent wedding, held a the lake,  where the couple sent out invitations inside a bottle, and how some guests brought the bottle message back to the ceremony, and put them into the water for good luck. And of course they were bad for the boats, so we had to fish them out when we spotted them. Later in the cruise: “Oh look there’s one now! Miss, would you mind picking that bottle up please… Go ahead and open it, maybe it’s a treasure map.” Cheesy I know, but very effective.

 

When she realized he was proposing, was she ever delighted and surprised.  “YES!”.

And he got on his knee, which is a classy move that I’m always happy to see. Guys in life you will only propose once, or twice, okay maybe even three times, but when you do it, do it right and get on your damn knee.
